PokerStars Sunday Million
PokerStars held its monthly $500 buy-in version of the Sunday Million last night, which meant fewer entrants but a bigger prize pool than normal. The tournament started with 3,119 entrants, which meant a prize pool of $1,559,500 and a first-place prize of $272,000 barring a final-table deal.
And, as per usual for the Sunday Million, a deal was made. In fact, it was a huge deal, as the final five players actually came to an agreement (a very unusual occurence), and each of the five were guaranteed six-figure paydays. The man with the big stack when the deal was made, tshooter1970, eventually bowed out in third place with $143,000. It was then down to Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin (pictured at right) and KipsterDK for the extra money left on the table for the first-place finisher (left per the PokerStars chopping rules). Plattsburgh finally succumbed to KipsterDK and finished as the runner-up, taking home the $133,000 he guaranteed himself from the deal. KipsterDK took down the event, pocketing a total of amlost $150,000.
The final results were:
- KipsterDK — $149,861*
- Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin — $133,397*
- tshooter1970 — $143,314*
- futilewar — $108,479*
- pearljam1012 — $112,297*
- iamhiv — $45,226
- caicu — $32,750
- jmmeijer — $20,585
- DCal Zone — $12,164
* Payout reflects a five-way deal made at the final table with extra money left for the eventual winner, per the PokerStars chopping rules.
Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee
The Full Tilt $750,000-guaranteed event required an overlay for the third week in a row when 3,626 entrants bought in last night. The tournament requires 3,750 entrants to avoid an overlay, and thus Full Tilt came out of pocket for $24,800 to match the posted guarantee.
Card Player magazine columnist Matthew “ionlyplayAA” Hilger (pictured at left, read his articles online now by clicking here) made it through 3,624 other players to get heads up versus PedjaMN. Hilger eventually landed the final blow to take down the almost $133,000 first-place prize.
The final results were:
- Matthew “ionlyplayAA” Hilger — $132,788
- PedjaMN — $80,250
- UBENICE — $52,500
- zelong — $41,400
- Nocturnick — $31,050
- br56887 — $23,025
- bozbosjes — $17,250
- Draigan1 — $13,500
- aabeware — $10,050
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
Another Sunday major, another overlay. UltimateBet’s $200,000-guaranteed tournament had 958 entrants last night, which amounted to the largest tournout the event has had since March 2, but still required $8,400 from UltimateBet to match the guarantee.
As is common at this event, the final table featured a slew of notable Internet pros. Two of those pros, kice32 and Garrett “GfcukinBecks” Beckman (aka GBecks) made it to heads-up play. It was ultimately kice32 who raked in the final pot to take down the tournament and pocket the $45,000 first-place payday.
The final results were:
- kice32 — $45,000
- Garrett “GfcukinBecks” Beckman — $26,500
- UltimateKaos — $18,000
- Blair “blur5f6” Hinkle (pictured right) — $13,100
- cushmaster — $10,500
- MHysler — $8,500
- esw2035 — $6,500
- Gladston3 — $4,500
- calmjackal — $3,400

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed event had the lowest attendance it has had since March 23 last night when only 675 entrants bought in. That meant that Bodog forked over $32,500 to match its tournament’s guarantee, almost one-third of the total prize pool. Players were effectively playing in a $148 buy-in tournament for just $100.
The two players who would benefit most from that $48 “rebate” were Derek “Body Man D” Wark and Daman04, who found themselves in a heads-up battle for the $25,000 top prize. Daman04 took out Body Man D to take down the 25 grand.
The final results were:
- Daman04 — $25,000
- Derek “Body Man D” Wark — $14,300
- e4 — $9,200
- I GOAT FU — $6,900
- whoznxt — $5,500
- SlotsLover — $4,500
- Tony “muckanut” Dunst (aka Bond18) — $3,500
- goodvibe — $2,500
