Montel Williams To Play Poker for Team USA

Talk Show Legend To Play Against European Greats

Montel Williams was yesterday named as a member of Team USA to play in the PartyPoker.com Poker Nations Cup taking place in Cardiff, Wales from Apr. 7-10. The talk show host was picked by team captain Robert Williiamson III, and will be joined by team-mates Jamie Gold, Freddy Deeb, Chris Ferguson, and Chad Brown.

He will compete in the $5,000 buy-in event against Sweden, Britain, Ireland, Netherlands, and Germany for a team prize of $100,000 while the winners of individual matches will take home $20,000. Party Poker have added $100,000 to the prize pool.

There are six heats and players socre points according to their finish in the heat. The final sees the team captains make tactical substitutions and strategic time outs.Montel Williams joins Team USA for Poker Nations Cup

Williams said of his national call-up, “I am thrilled and honoured that I have been invited to be a part of Team USA for the Poker Nations Cup. My teammates are extraordinary, as I have played against many of them in the past year and now look forward to teaming up with them in our quest to defeat poker pros from around the globe.”

The captains of the competeing nations are:

Sweden — Bo Sehlstedt,

Britain — Roland De Wolfe

Ireland — Padraig Parkinson

USA — Robert Williiamson III

Germany — Michael Keiner

Netherlands — Marcel Luske

Sweden won the event last year and PartyBets.com has again made them 3/1 favorites with the USA at 7/2, Great Britain at 9/2, Ireland at 5/1, Germany at 6/1, and the Netherlands  at 13/2. The event is being filmed for international broadcast.
