Team PokerStars Pro has certainly had a great World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) series. First German pro George Danzer wins event no. 19 and then Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier takes down his first bracelet in event no. 38. Amazingly, the Frenchman followed that performance up with his second bracelet just days later.
In what amounted to a replacement for the Sunday Million, Grospellier tore through a field of 9,220. The excitement from the rail began to build into the early morning hours as ElkY crept closer and closer to the final table.
That excitement grew into a frenzy as Grospellier bobbed and weaved his way to three-handed play. A timely break saw his opponents ask about a chop, to which Grospellier replied a firm refusal. A double up later and he was back in the driver seat.
With a little luck on his side, Grospellier took out “chilipepp” and suddenly, things were all square for heads-up play. The two traded small pots back and forth when a major cooler went down, giving ElkY all but the title.
“jektiss” min-raised on the button and Grospellier called. The flop came J

and both players checked. The turn was the 8
and Grospellier bet around the size of the pot. His opponent called and the river was the 9
, putting a four-liner to the straight on board. Needless to say, both players made straights and all the money went in the middle. Grospellier’s Q
10
was higher than “jektiss” and his 10

giving Elky a 45-1 chip lead. It was over just a few hands later.
Grospellier banked $263,323 for the win, bringing his two-event total to about $500,000. He now has nearly $7 million in career winnings.
