Layne FlackWelcome to Card Player’s Turning Point. Here, we catch up with the best poker players on tour to discuss strategy and pick their brains about real life situations they encounter in some of the biggest tournaments on the planet.

Recently, we caught up with Layne Flack to talk about a crucial hand he played on day 2 of the WPT Legends of Poker main event. Flack was short stacked and circling the drain when he decided to play a pair of Broadway cards in an unorthodox fashion against an unknown opponent. The cautious line worked and Flack moved back into contention.

A player raised under the gun to 2,200 and the cutoff called. Layne Flack also called from the big blind and the flop came KSpade Suit8Heart Suit7Spade Suit.

Flack checked to the original raiser who bet 4,300. The cutoff mucked and Flack called.

The turn was the 5Spade Suit and Flack checked once again. His opponent quickly fired in a bet of 10,000 and Flack, holding just 18,000 behind, made the call.

Flack checked in the dark to the river 4Diamond Suit where his opponent shut it down and checked behind. Flack showed KHeart SuitQHeart Suit and took the pot down with a pair of kings, bringing his stack to a much more healthy 44,000.
