Hollywood Casino, the former Argosy Casino Hotel, and scheduled World Poker Tour destination has opened its doors, according to The Examiner. The $336 million riverboat casino on the Ohio River in Indiana is now the largest of its kind in America, and includes a 41-table WPT poker room, as well as a 300-room hotel and parking for up to 4,000 vehicles. Up to 9,000 people can squeeze onto the Hollywood themed vessel’s two decks – 5,000 more than the former casino could hold.

Chief Executive Officer, Peter M. Carlino said, “With four years of planning, two years of construction and a significant capital investment, Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg is bringing guests new gaming and entertainment experiences that are unrivaled in the market.

The new facility is so impressive that it was recently selected as a stop on the World Poker Tour, and we’ve established the World Poker Tour room at the facility, which will be the premier poker room for Midwest players. We are grateful for the support of local and state government officials and regulators throughout the planning and development process and look forward to bringing our special brand of ‘Hollywood’ entertainment to visitors from across the tri-state region.”

The new casino will play host to the first-ever televised event from the Midwest with the Hollywood Poker Open in March 2010, and will also be offering three other WPT tournaments including the Indiana State Poker Championships in August.
