The $1,000 buy-in tournaments this week were a bit down, but ultimately provided the same amount of notable winners and even offered up some more controversy. Read the recaps for the $1K events on Full Tilt, PokerStars and Absolute Poker below.
Full Tilt -- $1K Monday
The $1K Monday was down a bit this week, dropping from 412 entrants to 368. Still, that was more than enough to meet Full Tilt's $300,000 guarantee. The total prize pool amounted to 368,000.
A total of 36 places were paid, and among those to make the money were Full Tilt pros Scott Montgomery (31st) and Steve Wong (19th). Joining them were notables Greg "gregior" Howard (27th), Mark "scrubbyz" Zajdner (20th), and PeachyMer (14th).
The final table was packed with online pros, such as Stian "JohnnyBelow" Stabell (eighth), mendieta19 (fourth), Jason "OUEmoKid" Potter (third) (pictured at right), and Scott "stpauli111" Hall (first). Mendieta19 fizzled out in the middle of the pack but made his presence known a day later. Continue reading the recap for the PokerStars Super Tuesday below for more details.
The eventual winner was Hall, who banked $92,000 for the win, which took just over seven hours. Hall took out Potter when he caught him making a move with just K-2. Hall's A-Q made a straight, and Potter was eliminated. After a bit of heads-up play, Hall again made Broadway holding K-4 to PreshaDroppa's 9-6 offsuit to win the tournament.
The win gave Hall the overall lead in Card Player's Online Player of the Year race with 1,946 points. This was Hall's sixth final table of the year and his second outright win. He's won roughly $200,000 thus far in 2009.

PokerStars -- Super Tuesday
The Super Tuesday on PokerStars dropped eight players from last week, moving from 433 to 425. That brought the total prize pool to 425,000.
The tournament paid out 54 places, giving the unfortunate title of bubble boy to Tim "Tmay420" West (55th). Among those to cash were Daniel "djk123" Kelly (54th), Dan "WiLDmAn75" Buzgon (40th), Lucas "beaverFEVER" Rifkin (36th), Adam "simmsux" Geyer (33rd), Matt "plattsburgh" Vengrin (32nd), Paul "uclabruinz" Smith (31st), Chris "cdbr3799" Dombrowski (30th), Phil "USCphildo" Collins (23rd), Jeff "jpapola" Papola (19th), Geoff "GeoffRas22" Rasmussen (18th), Jeff "jpa_25" Anderson (17th), Shawn "jordankickz" Busse (16th), Mark "scrubbyz" Zadjner (15th), Alex "AJKHoosier1" Kamberis (11th), and Amit "AMAK316" Makhija (10th).
Aditya "intervntion" Agarwal (eighth) (pictured above left) has had a monster year thus far, and his final-table finish was enough to move him into fourth place in the OPOY standings. Agarwal has six final tables this year, including a win in last Sunday's $200 rebuy, bringing his total winnings to nearly $140,000 in just under a month's time.
Online superstar mendieta19 made his second final table of the $1K Roundup by finishing in fifth. mendieta19 finish 11th in last year's OPOY race and is looking strong thus far to make another run at the top 10.
The win inevitably went to Shaun "shaundeeb" Deeb (pictured at right), the reigining online TLB champion pretty much everywhere. The best grinder in the game played the final hand up a bit for his fans on the rail and caused a bit of controversy because of it.
Earlier in the final table, wgafnotme was disconnected, and Deeb made a comment about him sitting out. This annoyed wgafnotme enough to call Deeb a moron. Later on, when they were heads up, wgafnotme raised on the button, and Deeb made the call. The flop came A
K
10
, and Deeb checked. wgafnotme bet and Deeb check-raised. Wgafnotme then moved all in over the top.
At this point, Deeb called for time and started in on the chat box, saying "Crazy. I think I'm good. Like a sick feeling in my stomach. You have 9-9?" Wgafnotme responded, "8-8." Deeb then continued, "Ohh, man. Maybe you do have it. Please be more nice in the future when you come back from a [disconnect]. This is why they call em SHAUN ****ING DEEB!"
Deeb made the call and wgafnotme showed A
5
for top pair. Deeb showed Q
J
for the nut Broadway straight and won the tournament when the turn and river came 9
2
. The slowroll was well-received by some and bashed by others, but brought an exciting end to a major tournament.

Absolute Poker -- $100,000 Guarantee
The $100,000 guarantee on Absolute Poker drew 159 entrants this week, making the prize pool $159,000. The tournament was down only two players from the week before.
The bubble was particularly interesting. With just 20 players left and 18 getting paid, Shaun "TedsFishFry" Deeb raised and Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy moved all in on the short stack. Deeb was forced to call with 9-7 suited and made a straight on the turn against Josephy's K-Q.
Deeb was also in good position to possibly take down his second tournament in as many days, but just a few hands later, his pocket jacks went down to JohnnyGStaks and his A-K, making Deeb the bubble boy.
The blinds were mounting and the stacks near the bottom of the leader board were shrinking, meaning a lot of all-ins determind the next eliminations. Along the way to the final table, a few notables were busted, including Russell "rdcrsn" Carson (16th), Amit "amak316" Makhija (14th), Chris "The Universe" Leveroni (13th), and Randal "RandalFlowers" Flowers (10th).
The final table featured two regulars in Aditya "Intervention" Agarwal (ninth) and Mohsin "ChicagoCards1" Charania (fifth) (pictured above right). Agarwal had already secured his top-10 spot on the OPOY leader board the night before, but three cashes on the night for Charania was enough to move him into third.
In the end, XRIVERISTAX defeated JohnnyGStaks heads up for the outright win.
