Members of the Norwegian Parliment last week backed plans to prevent Norwegian banks from processing financial 
transactions from offshore gaming operators including online poker companies according to a report on GamblingCompliance.com
The report suggest that the ban will likely come into force in mid-2009 and banks are likely to continue lobbying for, what the reoprt says is, "Further regulatory guidance from the government."
Norwegian poker players have become some of the most renowned in the game and include among them Annette Obrestad and Johnny Lodden.
