Now this is the way to start a poker series.
The Borgata Poker Open started Wednesday with a $300 event that attracted 1,192 entrants, for a prize pool of $357,600, of which $77,170 goes to the winner. The 16-event series runs until Sept. 16, and the $10,000 World Poker Tour event is scheduled to take place Sept. 14-18. The championship event has a $5 million-guaranteed prize pool.
Comparatively, the first event at the recently concluded WPT Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, also a $300 event, attracted 797 entrants.
Last year’s first Borgata Poker Open event, which carried a price-tag of $500, attracted 940 entrants.
With another strong showing, the Borgata staff encourage players to get to the casino early for registration. All tournaments start at 11 a.m. For more information, visit Borgata’s website.
