Winner Of London EPT Set To Receive £1 Million

The London leg of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour is set to be one of the largest tournaments ever played in the UK. It will run from October 1 — 5 in the Victoria Casino, which has the capacity to hold up to 500 players.

PokerStars.com is expecting to send more than 150 online qualifiers, and is guaranteeing a top prize of £1 million — almost double that of last year’s event, which saw Joseph Mouawad from Lebanon finish first for £611,520.

The recent poker explosion across Europe has seen the EPT go from strength to strength. Season four saw 5,902 entries throughout the tour, an increase of more than 2000 from season three.

Founder of the EPT, John Duthie says, “The PokerStars.com London EPT is like no other event in the sporting calendar, it brings together world champions, the best British and European professionals, as well as talented amateurs and online qualifiers to compete for one of poker’s biggest prizes.”

PokerStars satellites start on August 4 from as little as $2.22, or alternatively players can buy directly into the event for £5,400.
