Day 1A at the €8,000 buy-in PokerStars.com European Poker Tour German Open attracted a very respectable 198 players to Casino Hohensyburg, Dortmund, but by the end of play, 70 remained.

At the start of play, Team PokerStars pros Dario Minieri and Katja Thater found themselves at the same table, along withKatja Thater made it through to day 2 At EPT Dortmund EPT Baden winner Julian Thew. Another tough assignment faced Rob Hollink, who found himself at a table with Juha Lauttamus, Juha Helppi, Gino Alacqua, and Alex Kravchenko.
