PokerStars Sunday Million

Last night PokerStars held the monthly $500 buy-in version of the Sunday Million, and it was a huge success. The $500 buy-in Sunday Millions usually have prize pools between $1.3 million and $1.4 million, but last night’s event attracted 3,192 entrants to generate a prize pool of $1,596,000. Whoever became the last man standing in the event was going to earn $278,502 if no deal was made.

It got down to heads-up play between roosterbill (who finished in second in a Nightly Hundred Grand tournament earlier this month) and prominent Internet player SNo0oWMAN, and still no deal had been made, meaning the full prize was on the line. SNo0oWMAN eventually busted his opponent to rake in the full first-place prize in the event and to bump himself into second place on the 2008 Card Player Online Player of the Year leader board (just below Russell “rdcrsn” Carson). SNo0oWMAN had a very successfull night last night, also making the final table of the UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament under his UltimateBet screen name WarrickDunn28 (read below).

The final results were:

  1. SNo0oWMan — $278,502
  2. roosterbill — $140,607
  3. batoelrob — $101,026
  4. Kenjh — $79,800
  5. Suck My Ace — $62,563
  6. oogee — $46,284
  7. jonop56 — $33,516

Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee

The Full Tilt $750,000-guaranteed tournament had its most successful night yet when 4,430 entrants bucked up the $200 buy-in to generate a prize pool of $886,000. Last week’s event had 4,257 entrants and about $35,000 less in the prize pool.

Deanoll and jonnyblaze23 were the final two players in the event, and they were gunning for an almost $62,000 difference in paydays between first and second place. Jonnyblaze23 outlasted his opponent to become the ultimate winner of the event, collecting $156,458. Deanoll earned $94,713 for finishing as the runner-up.

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

Like Full Tilt, UltimateBet’s weekly tournament had its biggest day ever when it lured 1,092 entrants for a prize pool of $218,400. That was the biggest prize pool the $200,000-guaranteed tournament has ever had, and the tournament — much like the $100,000-guaranteed event on Bodog — used to be famous for always having an overlay. It’s fairly safe to say that UltimateBet’s famous sure-thing overlay is now a thing of the past.

The first-place prize in the event was $48,048, almost $20,000 more than the second-place payday. Thebubble1 and bb100 were the two players fighting for that extra 20 grand when it came to heads up. Thebubble1 refused to be popped, though, and he was the last player to leave the table.

The final results were:

  1. thebubble1 — $48,048
  2. bb100 — $28,130
  3. loadednutz — $19,438
  4. doolfan — $14,196
  5. Tyler “brainwasher” Cornell — $11,466
  6. dubois944 — $9,173
  7. matt nypc — $6,989
  8. plzplzcallme — $4,914
  9. WarrickDunn28 (aka SNo0oWMAN) — $3,713
  10. jpp5038 — $2,184

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

Eric 'basebaldy' Baldwin The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed event had 864 entrants last night, up quite a bit from the 773 of last week. Nevertheless, Bodog had to come out of pocket for $13,600 to match the tournament’s posted guarantee. Bodog and Card Player have been offering exclusive freeroll tournaments to CardPlayer.com readers over the past few weeks to earn them entry into this tournament (click here to see an example of last week’s promotion), and this Saturday will be the final freeroll in the series. Check back on CardPlayer.com on Friday to find out the tournament name and password for your last shot at a free $109 seat.

This week, JohnnyGstaks went head to head with WesternColl for the $25,000 top prize. JohnnyGstaks, a player with a very decent set of notable finishes, wound up adding a first-place finish in this event to his record when he eliminated WesternColl in second place ($14,000).

The final results were:

  1. JohnnyGstaks — $25,000
  2. WesternColl — $14,000
  3. pokerarg — $9,000
  4. Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin — $6,500
