Green Joker Poker today announced it had signed its first professional poker player, Irishman Rob Taylor.

Taylor, who was the second-ranked Irish player in 2007 will play all 10 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour events this year, starting with the Brighton leg this week.

Mike Lacey of Green Joker Poker said of the deal, “Rob has always shown a great commitment to GJP. He is always wearing his GJP hoodie at events, whether qualified on our site or not, and spreading the word about our events. This, combined with his excellent tournament record, adds up to a great proposition for both Rob and GJP and allows us reciprocate his loyalty.”

Taylor, who plays the Brighton GUKPT tomorrow, said,  “Thanks to Mike and Brian and everyone connected with GJP for this opportunity. Hopefully, with 10 legs to concentrate on, I can get at least one major result, and I’m really looking forward to the first leg in Brighton.”

Green Joker Poker is one of Europe’s fastest growing poker rooms and also one of its most innovative live tournament organizers. The company is currently getting set for its European Deep Stack Poker Championship, taking place in the Drogheda Poker Club, Drogheda, Ireland, from Feb. 2-10, 2008.

A strong lineup for the €1,500 main event, which starts on Feb. 6, is already taking shape and includes Poker Million champion Joe Beevers and fellow Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman, and five members of The Hitsquad.

Also confirmed are World Series of Poker bracelet winner Praz Bansi, fellow Bluesquare-sponsored Karl Mahrenholz, Sunny Chatta, Tony Phillips, and Priyan Del Mel, EPT Baden and GUKPT Plymouth Champion Julian Thew, well-known UK players David Lloyd and Jim Reid, as well as last year’s champion, Jen Mason.

The main event sees players begin with 50,000 in chips and a one-hour clock.
