Iowa Governor Wants No More Smoking In Casinos

However, No Developments In Legislature That Could Institute The Change

Radio Iowa reported that Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad is hoping that state lawmakers eventually send him a proposal to ban smoking in state’s casinos.

Currently, smoking indoors is prohibited at all other establishments in the state.

“I just think in terms of fairness, we have a law that’s designed to protect people’s health having clean indoor air,” Branstad told Radio Iowa. “They have an exception.”

However, it’s unclear if legislatures will come to a consensus on potentially getting rid of the exception for casinos. The American Cancer Society has reportedly urged lawmakers to act.

Radio Iowa has more on the story.
