Radio Iowa reported that Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad is hoping that state lawmakers eventually send him a proposal to ban smoking in state’s casinos.
Currently, smoking indoors is prohibited at all other establishments in the state.
“I just think in terms of fairness, we have a law that’s designed to protect people’s health having clean indoor air,” Branstad told Radio Iowa. “They have an exception.”
However, it’s unclear if legislatures will come to a consensus on potentially getting rid of the exception for casinos. The American Cancer Society has reportedly urged lawmakers to act.
