Struggling Zynga Inc. can take some solace in its “social” poker application being the highest-grossing game in the U.S. and U.K. for Apple’s iPhone in 2012, the Guardian reported.

Zynga has applied to be involved with a Nevada online poker market, which could expand beyond its borders if the feds ever legalize the activity or state partnerships form.

The firm has the most successful free-play poker game on the Internet, boasting millions of monthly users. However, the big question is what percentage could be converted to real-money players in a regulated American market.

Zynga doesn’t have a Nevada partner yet, but there were reports of talks with Wynn Resorts.

The California-based company does most of its business with Facebook.
