World Poker Tour Announces 2013 Tournament Schedule
The WPT Season XI Mixes New Events With Past Stops
The World Poker Tour announced the schedule for the remainder of its XI season on Tuesday, continuing its push into new markets around the U.S. and Europe while holding onto the most successful events from prior years.
“By working with a combination of existing and new partners throughout Season XI, WPT is constantly seeking to provide players around the world with access to high-quality tournaments and one-of-a-kind poker experiences that no one else can offer,” said WPT CEO, Steve Heller.
The first stop of 2013 will see the WPT return to the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the new $3,500 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open starting on January 27. This stop comes just months after the WPT Borgata Poker Open, which drew more than 1,100 entrants. This new main event will feature a $2 million guaranteed prize pool.
From there the tour will swing down to Florida for the $3,500 WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL from Feb. 8th through Feb. 12th. The WPT will then return to the Montesino Casino in Austria for the €3,500 PartyPoker.com WPT Vienna from Feb. 18th through Feb 23rd.
Back in the states, the next stop is one of the most consistently successful on tour, the $10,000 WPT L.A. Poker Classic, taking place once again at the Commerce Casino from Feb. 23rd through the 28th. As in past year’s, the LAPC is directly followed by the $7,500 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star from March 4th through March 8th.
Back across the Atlantic, the €3,500 PartyPoker.es WPT Barcelona will make its debut from April 5th through April 10th. The tour will then return to Florida for the second time in 2013 for the $5,000 _WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown _ from April 11th through April 16th.
The tour comes to a close, as it always has, at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The biggest names in the game will battle it out in the $100,000 WPT Super High Roller Championship and the $25,000 WPT World Championship, played back-to-back from May 18th to May 24th.
