A federal judge in New York may have recently deemed that poker is a skill game, but some in the state are still facing crackdowns for small-scale poker operations.
According to the Saratogian, two men have been charged with a misdemeanor for “promoting gambling.” Police reportedly confiscated $3,000, as well as chips, cards and tables during the raid that took place late last week.
Authorities reportedly investigated the underground games for a period of two months.
It’s unclear if any rake was being collected at the contests, which were held twice a week.

nice way to spend tax payers money on undercover investigations.
why not go after the people dealing drugs and robbing people.
Then you will be doing police work

two months to raid a poker game that only had $3000 on the table. What a waste of money.

there was a local poker tournament i had played at a few times that got raided and what i learned from that, which is why the local police raided it was the frequency of the tournaments and a couple kids under 21 playing in the tournaments is what got some people in trouble. so i think the key in this article was the fact they were playing 2 times a week. $3000 is nothing. so my guess is the neighbors called the cops because of neighborhood traffic twice a week
