South Point Poker, likely to be Nevada’s first ever real-money online poker site, is currently looking to hire “poker investigators” in anticipation of its launch this fall.

According to the company’s website, it’s also searching for software developers, graphic artists and customer service reps and supervisors. A press release said bloggers are also needed.

The company, under the umbrella of its parent brick-and-mortar property, was the first in the Silver State, as well as the nation, to receive a license to offer poker games on the web.

No official date has been announced for when the real-money site will open its virtual doors. The firm has been running a free-play version for quite some time, however.

South Point’s head start in the market is due to its decision to develop in-house software. Other Nevada casinos have partnered with foreign-based web poker firms.

Altogether, the online poker site is looking to hire 17 people at the moment.

“We are recruiting the very best talent to join our new online gaming company,” Michael Gaughan, owner of the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, said in a statement. “South Point Poker has allowed us to not only create jobs in Las Vegas but provide new and exciting career opportunities for Nevada’s economy.”

Nevada’s unemployment is the highest in the nation, and an upcoming online gambling industry likely won’t offer significant relief. The potential benefits are in other areas.

So far, Nevada has only authorized poker for traditional real-money online gambling. It will be intrastate for the time being, but other states are expected to one day partner and help create larger player pools, also known as “liquidity.” Federal efforts to legalize the business are ongoing as well, but there doesn’t appear to be any traction on the issue in Congress.
