Card Player Poker Tour Main Event Kicks Off At Choctaw Durant
Field Expected To Crush $500,000 Guarantee
The inaugural main event of the Card Player Poker Tour at Choctaw Casino Resort has officially kicked off in Durant, Oklahoma.
Registration is still open for the $1,000 re-entry tournament, but event organizers are anticipating a field large enough to more than cover the $500,000 guarantee.
“It’s more than we expected, more than we could have asked for,” said Tournament Director Bill Bruce. “The entire series has been great. The players are happy and everyone has been impressed with the turnout.”
Notables in attendence early on Friday included Berry Johnston, Adam Geyer, Dennis Phillips, Jimmy Tran, T.J. Cloutier, A.P. Phahurat, Grant Hinkle, Richard Lee, George Bronshtein, Clint Tolbert and Card Player’s own Barry Shulman, who gave the customary shuffle up and deal announcement.
The main event will feature two starting days, allowing those who are eliminated on day 1A to re-enter on day 1B. Those fortunate enough to make the final table will battle it out on the Card Player Poker Tour set, which will broadcast the action live on CardPlayer.com on Monday afternoon.
“The players are excited for a chance to play on the live stream,” said Bruce. “They’re always asking for it so their friends and family can follow along with their progress.”
The Card Player live updates team will be at the event to bring you all the action as the field plays down to a champion. You can view the live updates on the tournament’s landing page.
