Joey WeissmanEvent No. 46 at the 2012 World Series of Poker, the $2,500 no-limit hold’em tournament, belongs to 24-year-old poker pro Joey Weissman.

The Syosset, New York native ripped through a field of 1,607 entrants, claiming his first gold bracelet, a first-place prize of $694,609 and 1,620 Card Player Player of the Year points.

This was by far Weissman’s biggest cash of his career. He has a prior win in a 2010 U.S. Poker Championship preliminary event, a runner-up finish in the 2011 Caesars Winter Poker Classic main event and a final table appearance in last year’s Festa al Lago Classic championship event, but prior to Wednesday’s final table, he had only amassed around $100,000 in live tournament earnings.

“I’m looking for more than poker in my life,” Weissman said. “Poker will always be lucrative and I’m always going to use it as a vehicle to gain money and experience to do things I enjoy in my life. Not for materialistic purposes, but I feel like it’s better than working a 9-to-5 and answering to a boss.”

Here’s a look at the final table results.
