Unibet will exit the Spanish online gambling market this week according to Telegraph.co.uk ahead of the June 1 issuance of licences under the new regulatory regime.

Early reports suggest the company would exclude players from May 14 onwards but its site, Unibet.es was still functional as of today, May 15.

The company said it was pulling out of the Spanish market in December last year but has continued to operate.

Earlier this year Bodog pulled out of the market and Sportingbet has been told it must shut its site by the courts.

Spain will issue online gaming licences on June 1, including for poker, where the player pool is expected to be ringfenced with no access to international liquidity.
