Albert Sapiano has won the first six-max main event at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour. It’s the pensioner’s second victory this month after he emerged triumphant at the Genting Poker Series London.

The £500+ £50 buy in event attracted just 67 players to Thanet – the lowest number of players ever to take part in the GUKPT beating the record set earlier this month in Stockton when just 73 players showed up to play the £500 buy in main event despite the heavily reduced buy in.

The fall echoes declining numbers in live poker events which recently saw PokerStars truncate its EPT schedule.

The payouts at G Casino Thanet were:
1: Albert Sapiano — £10,720
2: Stephen Bovis — £7,700
3: Nick Woodward — £5,110
4: Hasan Taner — £3,020
5: Nathan Lee — £2,430
6: Louis Scriven — £1,840
7: John Han — £1,510
8: Dean Swift — £1,170

The Tour next pulls into The Grosvenor Cason, Blankenberg, Belgium on June 3, 2012.
