This Week In Tournament Poker -- Apr. 23rd - 30th

In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. SOUTH

• The 2012 Chad Brown Poker Challenge (Apr 19, ‘12 – Apr 29, ’12) The Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, OK is into the second week of its 32-event series, with this week’s highlight being the $2,000 no-limit hold’em main event, which starts with day 1A on the 27th and Day 1B on the 28th, then playing to a winner on the 29th.

• The 2012 Mid-South Poker Classic (Apr 26, ‘12 – May 06, ’12) The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa kicks off its 20-event series this week, with highlights from the early goings including a $350 no-limit hold’em event that begins on the 27th.

NEVADA

• The 2012 Grand Challenge Tournament Series (Apr 19, ‘12 – May 06, ’12) The MGM Grand continues its 30-event series, with this week’s highlights including a $550 mix-max “10-8-6-4” hold’em event, starting ten-handed on the 29th and progressively playing shorter until the final stages of the tournament are played four-handed, and a $1,090 Chinese poker tournament that begins on the same day and is played half high-only and half with deuce-to-seven.

CALIFORNIA

• The 2012 National Championship of Poker (Apr 04, ‘12 – May 01, ’12) The Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, CA is entering its final week, with the centerpiece of the series, the $335 no-limit hold’em championship event with the first of its five starting days beginning on the 26th.

• The 2012 Liz Flynt Spring Poker Classic (Apr 05, ‘12 – Apr 26, ’12) The Hustler Casino’s 14-event series is down to its final tournament. The six-day $275 no-limit hold’em re-entry event began on the 22nd, and has four more starting days taking place through the 26th, with the surviving players from those days combining on the 27th to play down to a winner.

FLORIDA

• The 2012 WPT Jacksonville (Apr 19, ‘12 – May 02, ’12) The BestBet Jacksonville is a few days into its 13-event series, and this weeks offerings include two $560 no-limit hold’em events on the 25th and 29th, and the $5,000 WPT $5,000 no-limit hold’em main event that begins on the 27th with the first of two starting days, and continues until a winner is decided on May 2nd.

NORTHEAST

• The 2012 Parx Spring Showdown (Apr 20, ‘12 – May 02, ’12) Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA continues its 20-event series, with highlights from this week including a $550 no-limit hold’em re-entry event which begins on the 27th and the $1,600 no-limit hold’em main event which starts on the 29th and crowns a champion on May 1st.

• The 2012 WSOP Circuit – Harrah’s Chester (Apr 26, ‘12 – May 07, ’12) The World Series of Poker Harrah’s Chester kicks off this week, with 12 events awarding gold rings. The first week is highlighted by a $555 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that begins on the 29th and plays down to a champion the following day.
