John CamposA federal judge has accepted the plea deal of John Campos that saw him admit to a bank gambling misdemeanor offense, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Thursday.

In a letter to the court, prosecutors called it “a fair and just resolution of the matter.” The judge previously had questioned allowing the defendant to plead guilty to the misdemeanor that carries a one-year maximum sentence. The felony counts were dropped.

The former Vice Chairman of SunFirst Bank faced up to 45 years in prison if convicted on all charges from the April 2011 indictment.
