NACPT Choctaw Prelims -- Day 1 Results

The Inaugural Native American Casino Poker Tour Kicks Off At Choctaw Casino Resort

The first day of preliminary events is in the books at the inaugural Native American Casino Poker Tour: Choctaw. The Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma is playing host to a 20-event series, with events starting at noon, 4 p.m. and a nightly $125 tournament at 7 p.m.

The buy-ins for the series range from $125 all the way up to the $1,000 no-limit hold’em main event, which will feature in-depth coverage and a live stream of the final table.

In addition to the prize money, the winner of the inaugural NACPT main event will make the cover of Card Player magazine, and will be awarded a seat into the 2012 World Series of Poker Circuit main event to be held at Choctaw next year.

In addition to no-limit hold’em, the series will have two $200 Omaha eight-or-better events, one starting Dec. 4 and the other on Dec. 7, and a $300 pot-limit Omaha tournament that begins on Dec. 8.

All of the preliminary events will award $50 vouchers for the $100 super satellites (with $50 re-buys) for the main event that will run on December 9 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

All noon events during the series will award the final 18 players an entry, while all 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. events will award entries to the final nine.

Event 1 — $200 No-Limit Hold’em

John TiptonThe first event of the series drew a total of 63 entrants, creating a prize pool of $10,694. The lion’s share of that money went to first-place finisher John Tipton of Wichita Falls, TX, who earned $3,428 for his win.

Event 2 — $125 No-Limit Hold’em

Phillip BarchThe second event of day began at 4 p.m. and attracted 31 players, building a prize pool of $3,007. Phillip Barch of Princeton, TX was the champion, earning $1,150 when he made a full house, fours over tens, to win the final hand.

4. David Stephan — $256

Nightly 7 p.m. $125 No-Limit Hold’em

George BronsteinThe nightly $125 event attracted 27 players on the first day, and was eventually won by George Bronstein. Bronstein has had some success before on the tournament circuit, including a fourth place finish in a 2006 World Series of Poker $1,500 pot-limit hold’em event.
