The first poker tournament ever held in Grecce has been won by native Grigoropoulos Georgios.

The €1,100 PokerStars.net Greek Poker Cup was held at the Club Hotel Casino Loutraki outside Athens last weekend and although the number of players who attended is currently unreported it would appear the event got reasonably close to its 200 player cap.

The final hand saw Georgios tangle with Swede Daniel Carlsson who had just three big blinds left which he tossed into the pot holding 6Heart Suit 2Heart Suit and was called by the Grecian’s KSpade Suit 4Diamond Suit which made a pair on the board and was enough to give him the title.

The final table payouts were:

1: Grigoropoulos Georgios – €69,100
2: Daniel Carlsson – €43,900
3: Kolonias Alexandros – €24,000
4: Tzimas Georgios – €19,000

5: Poulikarakos Panayotis – €15,850
6: Tsantes Nikos – €13,000
7: Kalfas Stavros – €10,300
8: Kossivas Vasilis – €8,140
