Enjoying the Summer

I am super excited for the coming few weeks. Among other things, I have a trip to Bandon Dunes with a good friend of mine planned where I will play 8-10 rounds of golf there over the course of 6 days. That is a lot of golf and not only am I excited for the golf, but that also will signify the start of my attempt to shed 15-20 pounds. I really packed on the pounds this summer after getting in pretty good shape earlier in the year when I was playing tournament golf. I was 205 at the start of the year, went down to 182 and now am inching back toward 200 again. I put on the weight mostly because this summer has been a long party. I have actually eaten really well for the most part, sticking pretty well to my vegetarian diet. But when you have guests in town all summer and are doing wine tastings, late nights out drinking etc, that doesn’t help your physique much! But over 6 days I will probably walk over 60 miles with a golf bag on the trip. Once I get back, I intend to stick to eating well and exercising more so I can get back to 180 or hopefully lower in a perfect world.

Poker has been going pretty well lately. I had a really nice week last week. This week has been not so good, mostly just treading water. I don’t have super high hopes for a big month financially in September since I will be gone for much of the month, but next month I will play quite a bit of poker and I also have a chance (theoretically anyway) for a big score in the Punta Cana Poker Classic. I am definitely pumped up for that since win or lose, it should be a great time over at the Hard Rock Cafe in Punta Cana.

My kids have been so much fun to be around this summer. My son turned 1 and my daughter is about to turn 3. She has grown up so much this year and is a delight to see each and every day. I’m still waiting patiently for my son to grow up just a little more so we can communicate more and play together, but for now my daughter has been a blast to hang out with. I will be sad when the summer is over because we have been having so much fun outside at the golf course or playing with water balloons, but we will find new ways to have fun when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

I want to let you guys know about a really cool poker seminar coming up in Berlin, Germany on December 14th-16th, a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can check it out here if you want more information, but basically the deal is you pay €1,799 for the trip and everything is 5 star all the way. Included in the package are 2 nights at Hotel Adlon Berlin, breakfast and lunch during the seminars which I will be leading, as well as a night out with all attendees, including myself, at the Hard Rock Cafe. Basically we will all go out partying one of the nights and we can talk about poker or anything you want to talk about truthfully.

Although the party will surely be fun, the main thing I am pumped up about is leading the poker seminar. I will be coaching the attendees for approximately 16 hours and we are going to get into some really fun stuff that will hopefully shape your thought process towards poker in a way that will help you win more and more money. My aim will be to get into the finer points of the art of no limit holdem and leave everyone with knowledge on how to crush no limit holdem cash games. With 16 hours to talk poker with everyone, that will give us plenty of time to dive into all of those burning questions everyone has and also to talk in depth about all of the most important concepts in poker. Once you learn how to approach the game, everything else falls into place much easier. I find most people approach the game incorrectly, and as a result they find themselves stuck for years at the same level. I know I can help shape anyone’s thought process towards the game, and I hope you will join me in Berlin this December.

If you are interested, I would highly recommend signing up as soon as possible as the number of people allowed to attend will be limited to preserve the integrity of the product. If 100 people wish to come, as flattering as that is for me, will definitely lessen the value of the trip so the aim is to keep the number of people attending to a small amount so I can be sure to have time for everyone the way I want to. I don’t want anyone to walk away unhappy, and keeping the number of attendees to a manageable number will ensure that that doesn’t happen.

Well, I’m going to get back to the tables. I hope everyone is having a great summer. I love this part of summer when we get great weather AND college football at the same time. Woohoo!
