Marrakech

After I finished up in London it was onto Marrakech Morocco for a new stop on the WPT. I’m always happy when poker tournaments start up in new areas, as it gives me an excuse to travel somewhere new. But I was also kind of disappointed as this tournament replaces the WPT that took place this week in recent years, the WPT at Fallsview Casino. It was the biggest tournament of the year in Canada, and with it gone, there is a serious lack of world class tournaments in Canada.

I hope this is a problem which can be fixed sometime soon, cause I always enjoy playing tournaments in Canada, and with the huge player base in Canada there is no reason there shouldn’t be a few 10K events in Canada every year.

Poker wise, Marrakech was pretty must a bust for me. First tournament I busted 26th, with 2o paying, 2nd was a quick bust out, and the 3rd event (the high rollers), I busted 12th and 6 got paid. Close but no cigar. The main event started well as I finished day 1 (which happened to be my birthday) 15th in chips out of 151 left. Yet somehow I was still able to bust on the first level of day 2. This was a pretty crushing bustout, so I’m glad I get at least a few days off to recover.

Not sure what’s on the schedule for the rest of the year for me. Vacillating between a few different choices of tournaments or maybe spend a little time at home relaxing. We shall see.

the nf tournament was a no brainer, but it also demonstrates how dumb the wpt guys are - i think the wpt will be gone in 2 years anyway - who watches the crap anymore?

I'm not normally the negitive type and I hope that every one on this planet gets a chance to be a millionare. However there are great poker players and then there are the rest of us and Scott you are in the rest of us category. You are a over aggressive player that pushes his money in like crazy and once in a great while you run hot. You happen to run hot in the right tourney and made 3.5 million and good for you but the fact that cardplayer gave you the chance to blog like your some great player is a joke.

I will agree with Mr honest... He is just being honest about you Scott Montgomery. I doubt you will ever win another tournament ever in your life...

Wow, you guys have a lot of negative things to say about the guy, and you probably no nearly nothing about him except what you saw on ESPN last year. So he sucked out on a few hands, that doesn't make him a bad player. You guys pretend like you're experts and say whatever you want simply because you're anonymous. From what I can tell, Scott is an awesome guy and a solid poker player. We get it, you don't think so, but you don't have to spew your mostly baseless insults every single time he writes a blog.

hey johnny - go suck a pickle... LOL!! if you dont get that joke - google it. Why are u all up on Scott's nut sack... ? Do you have relationship with him or something? ~~~~~~~~~~~~ you dont know what you are talking about "From what I can tell" - that doesnt sound confident to me. Maybe you should take your own advice and meet the guy and watch him play in poker tournaments and talk to other players that have played with him .... maybe then you realize what we are saying is actually fact and not fiction - dikhead

I would rather Cardplayer put an actually WSOP main event winner on here like Jamie Gold or Jerry Yang to blog than Scott Montgomery. It would be a new and interesting yet fresh perspective on poker and life. Some of these others, never read them. except Doyle B., Roy Winston, Daniel Negreanu and Hellmuth. The rest are silly and dont interest anyone to take the wasted time.

People hating on Scott is gettin' old. Not once have I noticed him blog anything negative about anyone, nor give these insults an audience. Have his success before you cast a stone. There isn't a single ME winner/big cash that didn't get lucky to win it at some point. I think Scott is the "everyman" poker blogger...and there isn't anything wrong with that. When (the proverbial) you have a better resume that Scott, I'd suggest submitting a blog to Cardplayer, and enlightening us donkeys on how poker is to be played, and how life is to be lived.
