EPT London seemed like the same story, next verse. Just as in wsope I finished day 1 as a short-ish stack, and then busted early on day 2. And again, it was the coin-flips that were the death of me. After doubling up a couple of even shorter stacks on coin-flips, my day never seemed to get started.

Other Canadians seem to be having better luck. Congrats to Daniel Negreanu for 2nd in the wsope main event (2nd year in a row he final tabled that event) and congrats to Erik Cajelais for 2nd in the EPT london high rollers event. It’s always nice to see my fellow Canadians doing well.

Daniel is pretty much a legend in Canada, and he seems to run deep in every tournament he plays. The 2nd place finish at wsope puts him in 1st place on the all time tournament winnings list. That’s an amazing feat, and well deserved.

I’ve never actually played with Daniel, which is unfortunate, though I do have a story about him. At the wsop main event final table last year, lots of pros came out to watch part or all of the final table. Daniel was one of them. He sat in Peter Eastgate’s section of the stands, which seemed odd, since two Canadians had made the final table (Darus and I), and our section of the stands was side by side. Maybe that was the only available seat though, so whatever.

But after the final table, both my parents told me they were pretty offended that he never even came over to the Canadian section to say hi, or wish us good luck. It was not like you could miss the Canadians as they were all dressed up in Canadian shirts and waving flags.

It didn’t seem like a big deal to me, but I know my father at least said he lost respect for Daniel after that. Daniel is far and away the most famous poker player in Canada, and for him to sit with the Danish fans and cheer for Eastgate rather than the Canadian players seemed like a pretty big snub to him.

LOL!! you finally wrote something - of worthy reading and commenting... My hats off to you Scott Montgomery...

Anyway, you need to read Daniel's Blog about "If you are too cool, then you are a TOOL" which will probably explain the reason why Daniel didnt sit in the Canadian's section.

Between you and me... you father have every right to be angry. I think he should give Negreanu a piece of his mind.

You were wearing Full Tilt, weren't you Scott? Negreanu is Team PokerStars (as was Eastgate). It could have been as simple as that. He couldn't be sitting in a Full Tilter's section. Granted, Darus was Stars, too, but he was more of a longshot to win than Eastgate. Anyway, just food for thought; playing devil's advocate a bit.

I was at the final table, sitting in Eastgate's side of the MW Best Light Lounge.....Daniel and all them had to sit on that side because it was the only place with seats, since people had cleared out from players who had busted. It was the only place where we could sit, so that's where we went, and we went with the Dennis Phillips crew. We were in the Cardinal hats and white trucker shirts on the Eastgate side lol It's just the way it was.
