Sorry I haven't been updating my pro analysis even close to as much as I had planned to this summer, but it's been super busy so far and I have been taking a little break from WSOP events. I found myself getting burned out on tournaments last week when I was playing events and realizing the last place I wanted to be was in a cardroom which lead to some serious punting of stacks.
This isn't really like me. It's pretty out of character as normally I can't get enough of poker. Because of this revelation I decided to take the last week or so off and just let loose and party a little. It also didn't hurt that there were no huge buy-ins that I was missing.
I really wanted to grind hard this WSOP and try to make a big name for myself, especially after my hot start (two cashes in the first three events I played with one televised and over 200k in cashes) but sometimes plans change, and since poker is all about making good decisions I made what I think was the right call and took a break.
That being said I still found a lot of time to grind the 25/25 no limit game at the Rio. I put in a few good sessions and profited about 14k. That game has been super good so far, and I hope to put in a bunch of hours in the near future.
It really amazes me how easy live cash games in Vegas are during the WSOP compared to online at similar stakes. The difference is night and day, and the games play super deep stacked which makes them even better. If any of you are coming out to Vegas for some prelims or just before the main event I would highly recommend not just limiting yourself to tournament action.
After my week of cash games, drinking, staying out late, and sleeping in until 4 p.m. every day, and making some ridiculously degen prop bets with my roommates, I'm ready to get back on the WSOP horse.
(Sunday) is going to be the first $1500 event I'm playing of the series which I'm super excited about. I feel really bad about skipping all the $1500s so far because these tournaments are some of my favorites. You don't get many chips, but the level of play is hilarious to watch, and to be honest I don't even mind not getting many chips because who doesn't love a good gamble fest early?
That being said its 5 a.m. as I write this and I'm still awake (the tournament starts at noon) so it's going to be a rough adjustment to my very backwards schedule.
Oh well, back to the gold rush. Can't wait to win my first bracelet.
