Thang Luu of Las Vegas made his first World Series of Poker cash in the 2005 casino employee no-limit hold’em event, wherein he placed third. In 2007, Luu came in runner-up in the $2,000 buy-in Omaha eight-or-better event. Tired of just coming close, Luu took down the 2008 $1,500 buy-in Omaha eight-or-better event for the bracelet and the more than $243,000 first-place prize.
