Rob Hollink made history in a number of ways at the 2008 World Series of Poker. He won a bracelet in the $10,000 World Championship limit hold’em event, which was the highest buy-in limit hold’em tournament in the history of the Series. Also, along with taking down the nearly $497,000 first place prize, Hollink became the first player from Holland to have ever won a gold bracelet.

Though Hollink has had much success in hold’em tournaments, he is regarded as a top Omaha player. He is from the Netherlands, and his hometown, Gronigen, is more than 1,000 years old. Prior to becoming a professional poker player, Hollink was an athlete, but he was sidelined by injuries. While he was in school, he studied mathematics and economics.
