In poker, instinct and fearlessness is necessary, so anyone nicknamed “Guts” would probably be a good player. Such is the case for Amnon “Guts” Filippi of New York. He has made several cashes in major events over the past few years. At the 2006 Bellagio Cup III, Filippi won the $10,000 buy-in for $364,200 and recently made the final table at the 2007 World Poker Tour Mirage Poker Showdown. In the 2007 World Series of Poker, Filippi cashed six times, including making the final table of the $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. championship. Filippi was chip leader for most of the event, and he eventually finished fourth for $586,080. Filippi is also a high stakes cash game player and has been featured on GSN’s High Stakes Poker.
