Adam Kagin
Professional Poker Player
Biography
Adam Kagin is formerly a financial services professional, who is enjoying his first year as a professional poker player. With talent that lends itself to the poker game, Adam could no longer deny himself the rewards that will come as a professional. In just his first year as a professional, Adam has appeared at five final tables and is ranked in the Top 100 of Cardplayer.com’s Player of the Year standings.
Born January 14, 1978 in Des Moines, Iowa, Adam actually grew up in the San Francisco bay area. He is a graduate of Dunn High School in Los Olivos, CA and finished his educational endeavors at Boston University, where he graduated in May 2000 with a degree in Business Administration. From 2000-2006 he worked for a variety of financial services firms in the Bay area, including Gerken Capital Associates, World Pension Forum, and Greenough Consulting Group.
Adam plays tight and aggressive, a style borne out of his
personality. Adam is a true entertainer in that he does not take
himself too seriously, and is always looking to get the most pleasure
out of life. By keeping things loose at the table, his opponents find
it hard to read his hand. He has been playing poker for over two
years, starting out at poker clubs in the Bay area, and progressing
gradually to the World Series of Poker, where he finished in the
money in a World Series event. With the success of his first major
“cash”, a growing displeasure he felt about his job and
work environment, and the fact that the market for his condo was
peaking, all contributed to Adam’s decision to pick up his
stakes and play poker professionally.
An unabashed “sportsaholic”, Adam can often be found
defending hero the virtues of his Warriors, 49ers, Giants, and
Sharks. Adam is also an avid golfer, and has a ( ) handicap. Adam’s
father is a rare coin collector, and his expertise has often been
documented on the History Channel, among others. A Jewish-American,
Adam is 27 years old, single, and currently resides in Henderson, NV.
