He makes a big point about poker not being " gambling " but when asked if his parents play poker he says " no, my parents don't gamble at all ". Which is it?

good catch mikeyb, but I get what he was saying and agree he is not a gambler if: Say he is sponsored, and making $$ outside of playing, he might be making more than the average person his age who has a real job. If someone is sponsoring him into events, then he's not really gambling either. If he's playing big cash games risking a significant part of his bankroll, I'd say he's gambling. How many top pros have gone bust at some point (lots I suspect). If he's so good he's never gone bust and uses good bankroll management, never risking more than 2% of his roll to enter 1 event, I'd say he's a professional poker player, not a gambler.
We all see poker players who are gamblers, and they are usually broke, or using outside income to support their poker habit. If I ever risked most my bankroll to go to a WPT circuit event I'd definately be gambling.
Now his parents are not gamblers if they played $20 in slots. It only gambling when your risking much more money than that. His parents were just playing a game for fun or intertainment. You know a slot gambler when you see one.
