Checking in the dark is a good strategy for cash games such as limit games. In No limit tournaments or cash games - I think its awful to do. (RAST and LIU are correct) Phil Laak is a perfect example of awful play in no limit holdem cash games. He has checked in the dark several times in GSN High stakes cash game in several seasons. I only seen it be profitable to him once when he called a bet on turn and caught river card.
