Fantasy Corner
Buy Low, Sell High!
What we know is that a football player's fantasy price tag is based on one thing - another owner's perception of his value. What we can do to benefit from this truth is to look ahead and see where a player will find himself when the points mean the most: the fantasy playoffs. Choose wisely. It may give you that extra something that pushes you to victory.
Here are the guys to buy and sell before the trade deadline.
Buy
1. Rudi Johnson (CIN)
This one may seem obvious, but look closer. Cincinnati faces Oakland in week No. 14 and Indianapolis in week No. 15. These are two of the worst rush defenses in 2006. Just don't expect too much in week No. 16 in Denver. By then, Johnson will have earned his salary as your No. 1 RB.

2. Willis McGahee (BUF)
Don't give up on McGahee just because he's on the capricious Bills. He's up against the Jets in week No. 14 and Tennessee in week No. 16. Cake. The only worry is that the Dolphins may get rowdy in week No. 15. If you can slide McGahee in as your No. 2 RB, then you are ready to rock.
3. Antonio Bryant (SF)
Think I'm throwing you a curveball with this guy? Only for the ill-prepared owner. In a dream scenario, your No. 3 WR faces Green Bay and a reeling Seattle in weeks No. 14 and 15. Live the dream with Bryant. He may make you like watching #81 in San Francisco again.
4. Greg Jennings (GB)
Like you need another reason to go with a WR that is on the field with Brett Favre, but by the time Jennings sizzles San Francisco in week No. 14 and demolishes Detroit in week No. 15, you may truly forget he is only a rookie. With Driver on the other side, this kid will be a great No. 3 WR for your squad.
Sell
1. Chad Johnson (CIN)
No, I haven't been soured on Johnson this season. He is a stud, but for as good as Rudi has it in December, Chad has it that bad. Oakland (week No. 14) and Indianapolis (week No. 15) may concede more real estate on the ground than Century 21, but their air defense somehow prospers. Maybe it's that no one needs to pass against these teams when they can so easily run over them. The fact is, teams do not rack up the yards through the air against these two teams. You can't really "sell" Chad Johnson away. Just make sure to go easy on him when he doesn't put up the No. 1 numbers we all have come to expect.
2. Javon Walker (DEN)
Let's have a round of applause for the quality of play that Walker has shown throughout the season. He really messed up his leg last season. All right, now subtly finagle your fellow owners and sell him off for a serviceable back, like McGahee (see above). Jake Plummer is just plain inconsistent and the matchups just aren't up to par. Walker will be of little help in week No. 14 against San Diego. Week No. 15 may be favorable against the Cardinals, but then week No. 16 (vs. Cincinnati) should come back to bite you. If possible, let another owner enjoy No. 3 numbers from this No. 2 receiver.
3. Kevin Jones (DET)
Mike Martz has really given KJ a boost this season. The problem lies in the divisional matchup awaiting him in week No. 14 against the Vikings. It is extremely difficult to rely on Jones for anything higher than weak No. 2 numbers against a divisional foe with a smart QB, massive offensive line, and overzealous defense. If you decide to keep Jones as your No. 2 RB, then you may get a breather against the Pack in week No. 15, but look out ahead. The Bears are ready to rumble in Detroit in week No. 16. Sell high with this guy - the sooner, the better.
4. Ronnie Brown (MIA)
This one is painful for me. I think Ronnie Brown is such a great player, but look at the mess around him. Daunte Culpepper played so poorly that he lost his job to Joey Harrington. Ugh. The Patriots roll into town in week No. 14. There is no RB who wants to face this team in December. Week No. 15 offers the Dolphins a likely low-temperature battle on the ice plains of Buffalo. I hope I am wrong on this one, but it's not looking good. Brown was a second-round pick this year. He will not give you second-round numbers.
Work smarter, not harder. Take advantage of perceived value and use it to boost your team to the championship.
