Poker Happenings at Ohio State University
Action around Ohio State University could be found almost every day in the month of October. The Columbus little ol' version of the World Series of Poker has been heating up in anticipation of the main event. In the pot-limit Omaha with rebuys, OSU students Chris Reuter, Jordan Scott, and Matt Walczak all finished in the top three. In the main event, Brian O'Neil came back from the dead to impressively take down the championship title.
The Beta Iota chapter of Phi Sigma Pi hosted a no-limit hold'em tournament that was held at the Union at Ohio State, benefiting the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. More than 300 students and Columbus locals played some excellent poker.
Two new weekly events are starting in Columbus this month. Ohiostatepoker.com is promoting weekly Vegas nights on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring both tournaments and live-action games. The RatPack of Columbus is bringing back its tavern poker league at Skully's Music-Diner. This event is sure to be a hit, with its great location and excellent happy hour specials. With the weather here getting colder everyday, the poker is sure to keep many warm.
